Abdominal / Renal Ultrasound

An abdominal aortic and renal artery ultrasound is a painless, non-invasive imaging test that uses sound waves to evaluate the abdominal aorta and the arteries that supply blood to the kidneys. This test helps identify aneurysms, narrowing, blockages, or other vascular conditions that may affect blood flow.

  • Wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothing.

WHAT TO EXPECT

During the exam, a vascular technologist will apply a small amount of gel to your abdomen and use a handheld ultrasound device to capture images of your blood vessels. The exam is painless, does not involve radiation, and typically takes 30–60 minutes.
