HOW TO PREPARE
No special preparation is required.
Wear comfortable clothing.
You may be asked to change into a gown for the exam.
WHAT TO EXPECT
During the test, a cardiac sonographer will place a small amount of gel on your chest and use a handheld device to capture images of your heart. The exam is painless, does not involve radiation, and typically takes 30–60 minutes.

AFTER THE TEST
You can return to your normal activities immediately. A cardiologist will review the images and discuss the results with you.
